DTE Energy offers payment incentive to install solar

DTE energy is offering reimbursement for the installation of solar systems on homes and buisness on their grid.  The program has a budget of 25 million dollars and the capability to add 5 MW of generation to the system, 2.5 of which from residential consumers.  The installed solar units cannot exceed the monthly electrical usage by the location and must initially be paid for by the coustomer.

Customers intersted in the program will recive a portion of the installation cost immediatly and monthly credits on their energy use for the next 20 years.  In all the program could save the coustomer about half of what it would cost to install a solar system.

DTE in return will recieve renewable energy credits for the generation that they only paid half for.  It's a win win situation for the company and consumer.

Now all you need to do is come up with 20,000 extra dollars to initially install the system.

For more information on the program visit DTE's website here.

Im just starting this blog but looking to get some feedback on renewable energy questions, concerns, and technologies.  I hope to develop this into a resource for those looking to learn about alternative fuels or do somthing about our problem.  I firmly belive that we cannot afford to do nothing any longer about this problem.  Our current energy practices cannot continue for  economic sustainability (notice i did not say fuel sustainability), or environmental concern.   I will be looking into the primary alternative source types but will also discuss other radical options.
I know that the technology to save the world is already out there, now it's just a matter of putting it together and making it work.  I highly recommend that my readers interested in this problem look into Nathan Lewis.  He has researched the problem in depth and developed a great overview of what we need to do.  I will be posting more soon but in the meantime take a few minuets and read the transcript.
